Sinopec first session of international trade course in US was held from April 16th to May 13th, 2008.
There are 25 participants in the class come from enterprise group headquarters, Material equipment department (international business company), Unipec and so on.
The training is supported by US transportation and logistics association. Its theme is, first, to learn Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Hazardous materials transportation management, and to get well know of the current logistics’ situation, dangerous chemicals’ policies and relevant regulations through investigating the America’s major sea ports, River Trade Terminal and railways’ Logistics facilities on site ; second, to know the America’s policies and relevant regulations and seek business opportunities; third, to know the development situation of the petroleum and petrochemical enterprises in America, and have a deeper understanding of American culture.
The participants in this course have been to New York, Washington, Chicago, Oklahoma, Houston and Los Angeles. They have visited five industry associations include US Department of Transportation, Oklahoma department of commerce and petroleum resources management committee, Houston government and other government agencies, American logistics and transport association and American Petroleum Institute, and seven enterprises include CHEVRON, DEVON, Canadian railway company and so on, and port offices include CATOOSA port, the port of Houston, and Los Angeles/Long Beach port. They have also taken part in the OTC meeting in 2008 in Houston. The American logistics and transport association’s experienced expert Steve Hawks gave the lectures.
