Sinopec Shengli Oil Field first Session of International Petroleum Project Reverse Talents Management Course’s completion

 As Shengli Oil Field overseas market’s expanding, it needs more and more overseas oil engineering project technicians to finish the project well and further expand overseas market. So, hosted by Shengli oil field advanced training center and undertaken by Petromentor International Petroleum Education (Beijing) Co. Ltd, the first session of international petroleum project reverse talents management course was opened in the Shengli oil field advanced training center on April 7th, 2011. This course lasted for one month and was completed on April 40th, 2011.

There were 31 participants in this course, who came from different companies including oil technology research institute, institute of geology science, Dongsheng company, Drilling engineering company, Bohai drilling company and so on. Participants paid much attention on this course. They behaved actively in the class, discussed problems they met in their work with teachers, communicated with teachers after class and supported our work actively.

According to the participants’ level, we set a proper course so that participants could learn petroleum project management’s basic knowledge, HSE, international oil project’s advanced management idea and intercultural exchange in overseas work. The participants’ views were broadened, and the capacity of overseas project management was improved through learning this course.

We adapted to “initiative, sharing, discussion” method in the course to improve participants’ communication and language skills in the environment of mutual cooperation and exchange. Participants had deep impressions on the contents of the class and could apply it to their own work.The teachers used various teaching methods such as dialogues, simulation exercises and so on to encourage participants to behave actively. This could increase participants’ interest in learning and make them more confident.

The teachers mainly used slides as a teaching aid and improved it according to participants’ needs to make sure that they could apply what they have learnt to their work.  

The Chinese teacher and foreign teacher have different teaching styles in class, but both of them could create a relaxed environment. Their scientific teaching methods and humorous teaching styles effectively mobilized participants’ learning initiative and improved their theoretical levels.

Second Session of International Petroleum Project Integration Management course will be held in early July.
