In order to improve the technical and management abilities of drilling supervisors and engineers in SIPC, to support the production and operation of overseas projects much more efficiently, the 9 days Drilling Personnel Integrated Abilities Training organized by SIPC and facilitated by Petromentor has curtained off successfully on September 15, 2012 in Sinopec Management Institute. This training course is designed for drilling supervisors and engineers both in SIPC head office and overseas projects, aiming to improve their integrated abilities both in technical and management level.
The course content is composed by 3 main parts, which is Drilling Supervision Management, Drilling Project Management and Comprehensive Abilities respectively. All of these subjects are held and taught by experienced instructors of Petromentor. The course starts with technical concerns, in the Drilling Supervision Management course, the instructor introduce and exemplify how to discern and solve technical issues during practical operation, while he introduces some art technology and new solutions prevail in the oil & gas industry nowadays as well. Then it comes along with Drilling Project Management, while some core elements and procedures in project management has been introduced and illustrated along with examples and cases. At last, Comprehensive Abilities course introduces ways to effective team management, communication and problem solving etc. These interlinked subjects contribute to the integrate system of drilling supervisor training, answering the call of duty for drilling supervisor in the industry at present.
As for instructors, the Drilling Supervision Management course is lectured by Dr. Jack, who has over 55 years of experience in the industry, being as drilling platform manager, drilling superintendant, drilling supervisor etc, with abundant service experiences in major oil production areas in the world. He is also senior member of many international professional associations, and has compiled drilling manuals for PEMEX and PDVSA. Drilling Project Management course is hosted by Mr. James, who has over 30 years work experience as drilling superintendant and manager in BP, AMOCO, HUSKY, BG etc., and he is familiar with various operation and management systems that have been widely adopted by those international oil companies. The Comprehensive Abilities course is held by Ms. Marj, who is OSH accrediated trainer with 26 years work experience. She had worked for oil companies in Australia for many years, having great understanding on the oil & gas industry.
This course ends well with a huge success, judging both from the participant’s in-class feedbacks and after-class evaluation. It has met the primary objectives.
