Since 1940, the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) has exclusively represented the worldwide oil and gas drilling industry. IADC is dedicated to enhancing the interests of the oil-and-gas and geothermal drilling and completion industry worldwide. Membership is open to any company involved in oil and gas exploration, drilling or production, well servicing, oilfield manufacturing or other rig-site services. WellCAP has been adopted by the Offshore Operators Committee (OOC) in the United States to comply with Subpart O training regulations issued by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE).
WellCAP has achieved worldwide-acceptance in the governments of Norway, UK, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, India, Australia, Japan, China.
IADC's WellCAP offers a blueprint for rig crew training by emphasizing the knowledge and skills critical to successful well control. WellCAP measures training schools against quality benchmarks for adherence to industry developed core curriculum, appropriateness of facilities and instructional staff and consistency of operations.
WellCAP is the product of joint working committees of operators, drilling contractors, professional trainers and well controls specialists. WellCAP currently has 35 accredited organizations teaching in 11 languages from 106 locations in 22 countries.
Target Participants
WellCAP provides basic well control knowledge for floorhands, derrick workers and non-technical personnel. The Fundamental and Supervisory Levels address practical well control skills for derrick workers, assistant drillers, drillers, toolpushers, superintendents and drilling foremen.

IADC WellCAP and HSE Rig Pass require both written and simulator testing. Instructor Eligibility:
Approved WellCAP instructor holding at least two valid supervisory-level well control certificates (Minimum drilling subsea including workover-completions courses)
Actively teaching well control for 2 years, or assistant instructor for at least 3 years
