Overview

Calgary lays in the south of Alberta province in Canada, with an area of 789.9 square kilometers and altitude of 1048 meters. It is the economic, financial and cultural center of Alberta. It has biggest amount of engineers in Canada and been nominated as the cleanest city in the world for many times. The word "Calgary" means "clear flowing water". Calgary was former a pasture, then rich oil & gas resources had been found in 1941. Since then, the city has been developing rapidly over the time. Many international petroleum companies including those from China have set resident office here, while some set head office here as well, therefore, Calgary is named as the energy center of Canada.

The University of Calgary Profile

The University of Calgary was found in 1945, originally belonging to the University of Alberta, and came to be as an independent university in 1966. In these 40 years, it has already developed into one of the most important researching universities in Canada. The University of Calgary lays in the city of Calgary that is in the south of Alberta, west of Canada, 200 km to the north of Montana of USA. It is the first metropolis on the other side of the Rocky Mountains and it only takes 1 hour to Vancouver by plane. The main campus covers 213 hectares. There are 19,801 full-time undergraduate students, 4,340 graduate students, among which over 1000 overseas students are included. The collection of books in library is more than 1,800,000 volumes, as well as manuscripts and samples from many Canadian writers and architects. In recent years, due to economic thrive in Alberta as well as Calgary, there are sufficient patronization from government and enterprises, thus its importance in domestic and international scientific research and education grows. Now it is listed in the top 10 of Canadian universities for scientific research competency.

Training Scheme

Based on Calgary of Canada and supported by the University of Calgary, Petromentor has made full use of local resources, including industrial bases and academic resources, to provide trainees with opportunity to go Canada for inspection and education. Such training scheme includes professional knowledge lecturing, company inspection, on-site operation and cultural inspection etc. Professional knowledge will be offered by local experienced experts and scholars, who can broaden trainees horizon by integrating their own experience into lectures. Company inspections includes inspections on world famous petroleum companies such as PanCanadian Petroleum Limited, Petro-Canada, Canadian Fracmaster Limited, BP, Shell, etc as well as inspection on the campus of University of Calgary. On-site training includes site inspection, operation and usage of instrument and equipment, simulation operation etc.
